When you open your Volume control window, then you will observe that there some options missing, and after you add them in the main panel, it becomes a lot bigger then your screen size. Specially if your resolution is 800 x 600, then in that case you can not see all the option, you need to scroll to see them all. Now to make it smaller and simpler, just press CTRL + S, and you will see a smaller, simpler volume control set.

If you are not able to see that after pressing that shortcut, then try running the following command in the Run window. Type sndvol32 /s this will open the volume control set, as you want it.
