If you don’t want some programs like messenger to start while booting of XP and if you want to remove those program’s icon from system tray of Windows XP permanently, you can do this with following little tricks.

1. Login with administrative account on windows XP.

2. go to Start > Run

3. type>> msconfig

4. Click on OK

5. on pop up window go to “Startup” tab (Last tab)

6. Uncheck your undesired program

7. Click on Apply

Restart your computer, your undesired program like yahoo messenger, live msn messenger will not start while booting of XP and it will not appear on system tray of Windows XP. Removing unwanted program from startup (without uninstalling the programs) will reduce booting time of XP and Windows XP will be more faster in use.

you can start or use any program that you removed from system tray from START> All programs> your program

If any problem will occur and if you are unable to solve problems, just restore the system by Start > All programs> Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
